Creel & Barrancas del Cobre Travel Guide

Are you planning to visit Barrancas del Cobre? This destination is fantastic for those who are dreaming about a week far away from the current and crowded places in Mexico. When I planned this trip, I wasn't sure where to find information about the best accommodation options, you can stay in the hotels near Barrancas Del Cobre zone, but I recommend to sleep at Creel.

How to get there

I recommend traveling to Chihuahua City first and stay one night before in a hotel near the train station where you can take "El Chepe Regional" next morning, is the only passengers train in México, the train departs at 6:00 a.m. directly to Los Mochis, but you can purchase your ticket to get down in Creel Station. Here You Can find more information about prices and the main route: chepe.mx

I recommend getting the Chepe Regional Tourist Ticket so you can be able to get breakfast at the restaurant inside the cabin during the trip.

The views are amazing! Enjoy the journey.

IMPORTANT: Bring cash with you before getting on the train, and for all the trip, there is just one bank ATM at Creel.

Where to stay:

There are many options for accommodations at Creel; your decision will depend on how much you want to spend. If traveling with friends or alone I suggest to stay at "Hotel La Estación." The hotel is just a minute away from the train station and is really beautiful, Breakfast included! :D

What to do:

Once you arrive in Creel its time to explore the zone, you will find many options to visit the touristic places; you can rent a motorcycle or local people offer tours by car to get to the central locations:

- Lago de Arareco

- Valle de Los Monjes

- Valle de Los Hongos

- Casacada Cusárare

(All these locations are 15 to 30 min away from Creel).

Adventure Park at Barrancas del Cobre is one hour away by car from Creel. The hotel offers you a car tour to get you there, but make sure to ask for a quick stop at "Parada Divisadero" Here you will find incredible views of the valley.

Once you are in Barrancas del Cobre take out your camera and enjoy.

Tips: Plan your trip with time, look the days "El Chepe" and "Barrancas del Cobre Park" are open for your travel and do not forget your camera!
